Chouhan General Store

Out on Shivpura Road, across from the RAC Ground, sits our little shop. We are on the way to Rawat Bhata Road in Kota. It’s a busy spot because of the ground nearby, and we get all sorts of people stopping in. Some are just passing through on their way to work, and others live right here in the neighborhood. Rajasthan gets very dusty, especially when the wind picks up, so we spend half our day dusting off the packets on the shelves. We have everything from basic groceries to small household items. It’s a one-man show most of the time, so things can get a bit hectic when three or four people walk in at once. We don't have fancy decorations or big glass windows. It is just a solid shop with a shutter that we pull up every morning. We know the local kids who come in for a single piece of candy and the aunties who want to compare the prices of different dals. Sometimes the supply trucks get stuck in traffic, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. That is just how it goes. We don't make a big deal out of anything. We are just here, day in and day out, making sure there is a place for people to get their daily needs without having to travel too far into the main city.
