Bombay Confectionery

Being on Chhawani Road means there is never really a quiet moment for Bombay Confectionery. The road is always full of cars and bikes, and the noise just becomes a part of the background after a while. Our shop is right on the main stretch, and we spend a lot of our time just wiping the dust off the front glass because of all the traffic passing by. We keep a variety of things in the jars and on the shelves, mostly basic stuff like bread, biscuits, and those little cakes that kids like. It’s a straightforward business and we don’t try to make it look like something it isn’t. The oven is in the back, and when the wind blows the right way, the whole street knows we are baking. Some of the floor tiles are chipped and the paint on the door frame is starting to peel a bit, but that’s just how it is when a place is used every day. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything is stocked up and the customers are looked after. People usually just pop in for a quick minute to grab something and then they are back out into the Chhawani Road rush. It’s a busy life, but we like the pace of it. We just keep the lights on and the shelves full for whoever stops by next.
