Ankit Family Shop Kirana&General Store

Ankit Family Shop Kirana & General Store is right at the Anantpura Circle on Jhalawar Road in Kota. Kota is full of students and families, so we stay pretty busy throughout the year. The circle is a landmark around here. I keep the shop stocked with all the basics like lentils, spices, and snacks. It’s called a family shop because we try to have something for everyone in the house. The interior isn't anything special, just some shelves and a few refrigerators for cold drinks. I spend a lot of time sorting through the new arrivals. The heat in Rajasthan can be intense, so the cold drink section is very popular. I usually have the radio on to keep me company during the quiet afternoon hours. It’s a lot of work keeping track of everything, especially with so many different items. I write everything down in a big ledger. We don’t have any fancy tech. My son helps out sometimes when he’s not busy. We’ve been in this spot for a long time and the locals know us well. It’s a straightforward business. We open early and stay until the lights at the circle come on. It’s just about being there for the people who live nearby and need their daily groceries without a hassle. Kota can be a hectic city but our little corner at Anantpura Circle feels like home. We just keep doing what we do.
