Ahemad Kirana Store

Out here on Zulmi Road in Suket, Ahemad Kirana Store is just a small spot among the other buildings. We have the usual things on the shelves, like soaps and cooking oil and bags of snacks for the kids. The road outside can get pretty busy with people moving around, so we get a lot of dust on the front counter which we have to wipe down quite a few times. It is a bit dark inside the shop unless we have all the lights on, but it stays cooler that way during the summer months. Most of the neighbors know us by now. We spend a lot of time just organizing the jars so we can find what someone is asking for without looking too hard. Sometimes the stock comes in big sacks and we have to spend the whole afternoon portioning it out into smaller bags. The floor is made of old cement and has some cracks, but it does the job. We don't have any big signs or anything like that, just the name on the front. We keep the milk in a small cooler near the back and it hums all day long. Usually, we are here from early morning until the evening when things finally quiet down on the road. It is just a basic shop for the people living nearby to get their daily stuff. The fan above the door makes a lot of noise but we don't really notice it anymore. We keep some extra stock in the back.
