Aashirwad Provision Store sits right here near Subash Circle in Mahaveer Nagar Vistar Yojana 32. It is just a regular shop where we keep the usual things people need for their kitchens every day. Most mornings start with moving the crates around and making sure the jars of pulses are visible. The fan on the ceiling makes a bit of a clicking sound but it keeps the air moving when it gets hot in Kota. We have been here for a while now, watching the traffic go by the circle. The shelves are mostly full of flour, rice, and those little packets of spices. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and we have to wait around to stack the new boxes. It gets a bit crowded in here when three or four people come at once because the counter takes up a lot of space. We try to keep the floor swept, though the dust from the road always finds its way back inside. There is nothing fancy about the place, just some wooden racks and a big fridge for the milk and curd. People from the nearby houses stop by on their way home. We usually stay open until the street lights come on. It is a simple life, just counting change and keeping the stock updated so we don't run out of the basics like salt or tea leaves. Sometimes we sit outside on a stool when it is quiet and just watch the street. That is pretty much all there is to it.
