Aakarshit Gift Shop

Aakarshit Gift Shop is located at 4 C 4 in the Dadabadi Vikas Yojana area of Gumanpura. This part of the neighborhood is mostly houses, so we see the same faces quite often. The shop has glass windows in the front, but they get smudged easily with kids touching them. We have a lot of different items like wall clocks, small statues, and those soft teddy bears that sit on the top shelves. The floor is made of simple grey tiles and there is a small desk where we do the billing and wrap the gifts. Sometimes the tape dispenser breaks and it takes a minute to fix it while the customer waits. We keep some pens and notebooks near the counter too because people always seem to need them. During the rainy season, we have to keep the door closed so the moisture doesn't ruin the cardboard boxes. It is just me or my brother here most of the time. We know which shelf has the birthday cards and which one has the artificial flowers. The ceiling fan hums a lot when it is on the highest setting, which is basically all day during the summer. We don't have a big sign outside, just the name painted above the door. It is a quiet way to spend the day, waiting for someone to stop by for a last-minute gift or some school supplies for their children.
