Hanuman Bricks Fields

You can find Hanuman Bricks Fields at Plot No. Nh-2 in Araya Nagar, which is in the Mathura district. We are right along the national highway, so the sound of traffic is something we hear twenty-four hours a day. It is a large plot of land where we bake the bricks in traditional kilns. There is always some smoke and the smell of burning wood or coal in the air. We have rows and rows of raw clay bricks drying in the sun before they go into the fire. It’s a very old way of doing things but it works for us. The ground is always covered in red dust and broken bits of brick. We live and work right here on the site most of the time. When the season is right, we have a lot of people working here to dig the clay and shape the bricks by hand. It’s very tiring work and depends entirely on the weather. If it rains unexpectedly, it can ruin a whole batch of bricks that haven't been fired yet. We sell the finished bricks to people all over the Mathura area who are building houses or shops. There is no fancy office, just a small brick room where we keep our logs and take a rest when it gets too hot. It is a simple life and a simple business that has been around for quite some time now. We just try to make good bricks for the neighbors.
