You can find Korba Organic Producer Company Limited out in Village Jalke. We’re based at house number 322, which is part of the Pasan Thana area in the Poudi Uproda tehsil. It’s deep in the Korba district, so it’s pretty far from the big city lights. Life here is slow and moves with the seasons. Most of our work involves coordinating with the local farmers around here. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just walking over to meet people in person. The office is just a simple room with some chairs and a lot of registers. We don’t have any fancy software to run things; it’s mostly just us writing things down and keeping track of the organic produce coming in. The roads around Jalke can be a bit rough, especially when it rains, so we spend a lot of time worrying about transport. It’s a hands-on job. We’re often out in the sun, checking on the crops or helping load up the bags. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We’re just a group of people from the Korba area trying to keep the organic farming tradition alive. It’s hard work, and the pay isn't always great, but it feels right to be doing this in our own backyard. There’s a lot of dust and sweat, but that’s just part of the deal we made when we started this.
