Asian Machinery

Asian Machinery is out near Gevra Railway Station, specifically on Gevra Station Road in Vikas Nagar, Kusmunda. You can hear the trains pulling in and out all day long, and the air always has that smell of coal and heavy machinery since we’re so close to the mining areas. Our yard is usually full of parts and different kinds of equipment that need looking at. It’s a dusty place, and there’s no point in trying to keep your clothes clean when you’re working here. We mostly deal with the kind of machines that do the heavy lifting in the local industries around Kusmunda. It’s a lot of big bolts and heavy iron. We don't have a showroom with shiny new things; it’s more of a working shop where things are in various states of being repaired or moved. Vikas Nagar is a busy little pocket, and we’ve got a good relationship with the other workers nearby. Sometimes we have to wait on parts to arrive by rail, which can be a bit of a gamble on the timing. We spend our days mostly outdoors or in the open shed area. It’s hard work, and the weather out here can be tough, but we’ve been at this spot for a while now and we know how to handle the local conditions. It’s just a straightforward machinery business for a straightforward town where everyone is just trying to get through their daily tasks.
