Ambuja Cement

Down in Korba, we are set up at M-667 in Adarsh Nagar, which is part of the Kusmunda area. If you know Chhattisgarh, you know how dusty it can get around the industrial zones. We spend a fair amount of time just wiping down the desks and the cement bags because the air is thick with it. Our spot in Adarsh Nagar is right in the middle of a residential-meets-industrial zone. It’s a practical location for Ambuja Cement because we are close to where the growth is happening. The house at M-667 is where we handle the daily grind. It’s mostly just answering the phone and checking the schedules for the drivers. The heat in this part of India can be pretty intense, so we have a fan that runs non-stop from March until October. We have a lot of workers coming in and out, usually covered in a bit of gray dust from the site. It’s not the kind of place where you wear a suit and tie. We wear old clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. The roads around Kusmunda are always busy with heavy vehicles, so there is a constant rumble in the background. We just keep our heads down and make sure the orders are ready when people come to pick them up. It is a very straightforward way to earn a living, just moving product from point A to point B in the 495454 area.
