Down in Vijaypur, Korba, you can find us at Sunita Kanwar’s place. Ahiran Farmer Producer Company Limited started because a lot of us in the village needed a way to organize things better. Katghora is the nearest big area, so we spend a lot of time going back and forth between there and the village. Life here is mostly about the farming cycles and making sure the crops are doing okay. We don't have a big glass office or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably find us sitting on the porch or in the main room talking about seed prices or the weather. It is a very hands-on kind of job. Being in a rural part of Korba means we have to be practical about everything we do. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words or polished reports. We just want to make sure the farmers in Vijaypur have what they need to get through the season. Sometimes the rains are late and everyone gets a bit worried, but that is part of the life we chose. We keep our records in simple ledgers and try to stay on top of the local requirements. It’s a small operation, but it means a lot to the people living around here. We’ve been at this for a bit now and it feels like we are finally finding our rhythm in the village community.
