We operate out of this location for Vedanta Aluminium Limited, and it’s a pretty lively spot because of all the buses coming and going at all hours. Koraput is beautiful with the hills, but the work here is practical and grounded. Our office is right there in the mix of it. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but we are used to the winding roads and the red soil that seems to get on everything we own. The office itself is small and focuses on the local logistics and the people working in this district. We don’t have much in the way of decoration, just some calendars on the wall and piles of ledgers. It’s the kind of place where you can hear the bus conductors shouting outside while we’re trying to finish up the weekly reports. Sometimes the rain gets so heavy you can barely hear yourself think, but that’s just how it goes in this part of Orissa. We have a small group here, and we all know each other’s families and stories. There’s no big corporate vibe, just a bunch of people trying to make sure the aluminium business keeps ticking along in this corner of the state. It’s a hard place to work sometimes, but the people are solid.
