Ultratech Cement

Out here in Orissa, things move at their own speed. We have our presence for Ultratech Cement Ltd in V,S.S. Nagar in Baragarh, and we also have the spot in Suryamahal, Jeypore. These are two different places but we handle the work across both. In Baragarh, it feels very local, and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We spend a lot of time traveling between these spots or talking on the phone to coordinate things. It is not like the big city offices with fancy chairs. We have wooden desks and a lot of dust from the roads. The sun in Orissa can be really harsh, so the office is usually the only place to get some shade. We handle the cement orders and talk to the local contractors who come in covered in mud or dust from their sites. It’s hard work and it isn’t always clean. We keep a water cooler in the corner that gets a lot of use. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit and wait it out. It’s just how it is here. We focus on the bags and the trucks and making sure the numbers match up at the end of every month without much trouble.
