About Chaitan Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Koraput
Chaitan Rice Mill is located on the Main Road in Rajpalama, which is part of the Similiguda block. We are quite close to the Central University, so there is always a lot of activity nearby with students and buses. The mill itself is a noisy, dusty place, but that’s how a rice mill is supposed to be. Farmers from the surrounding villages bring their paddy here in trailers and carts. We spend the day unloading, milling, and then bagging the rice back up. It’s heavy work and my back usually aches by the time the sun goes down. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a big shed with machinery and piles of husks. The air is thick with the smell of grain. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the mud when it rains, and we all have to go out and help push. We’ve been operating here for a long time. It’s not the kind of job where you stay clean, but it’s honest work that needs doing. We know the local farmers by name and they know they can find us here from early morning. We don’t bother with much paperwork beyond what’s necessary for the weights and payments. It’s a straightforward business and we just focus on getting the rice processed so it can get to people’s plates.
