Slv Kirani Store

Slv Kirani Store is found at 918/45 in Takkalaki, which is in the Koppal district. This part of the country can get very hot, so the shop is built with thick walls to try and keep the temperature down inside. We are a traditional kirana store, meaning we have everything from loose spices and dal to soaps and small toys for children. The counter is made of heavy wood and has been worn smooth by years of people leaning on it while they wait for their change. Takkalaki is a place where everyone seems to know everyone else, so a lot of the time people come in not just to buy things but to exchange a bit of news about the village or the crops. I spend a lot of my morning weighing out quantities of sugar and flour into smaller packets for the day ahead. It is a bit dusty sometimes because of the dry wind in Koppal, but we do our best to keep the products clean.
