Shree Jagadguru Gavisiddheshwar Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital

Shree Jagadguru Gavisiddheshwar Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital is a real mouthful to say, so most of us just call it the college or the hospital. We are located right on the Gavimath Campus, which is a pretty big area with plenty of space for the PG studies and the research center work we do. If you walk around the campus grounds, you’ll see students carrying heavy books and patients looking for the different wards. Since this is an Ayurvedic place, there is often a distinct smell of herbs and oils in the air, which is a lot different than that sharp chemical smell you get in most modern hospitals. We spend a lot of our time teaching the next generation of doctors here. It’s a busy life, trying to balance the classroom lessons with the actual patients who come in from all over the region. The campus has a lot of history to it, and you can feel that when you walk through the older halls. It’s not a shiny new building made of glass, but it is sturdy and serves the purpose well for everyone. We have people researching all sorts of old remedies to see how they fit into the modern world. It gets quite lively during the festival times because of the Gavimath connection. People just show up, and we do what we can to take care of them. It is a lot of hard work, but that’s what we do.
