About Koppal Maize Cluster Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Koppal
Our foundation is based out in Shirgaon, working right from Dundappa Irappa Tapakarawadi’s place. It’s a rural spot, and most of us here have spent our whole lives around farming and working in the fields. Maize is the big crop in this cluster, so that’s what we spend almost all of our time thinking about and working on. We aren't sitting in some air-conditioned office in a big city; we're right here on the ground where the crops are actually growing and being harvested. Sometimes the dust gets to be a bit much, and the internet connection isn't always the best, but it works fine for what we need. We started this foundation because the maize farmers in the Koppal area needed a better way to come together and talk. Usually, you’ll find a few of us sitting around a simple wooden table discussing market prices or storage issues. It’s a pretty informal environment for everyone. If you come by to visit, you’ll likely see tractors passing by and local people coming in and out to chat about the weather or the crop. We don’t have any fancy brochures or a front desk with a receptionist waiting. It's just a simple room with some chairs and a lot of talk about the next harvest season. We know all the families around here, and they know us. Working on the maize cluster means dealing with whatever the weather throws at us every day. Last season was really tough with the rain, but we managed to get through it.
