Knr Murmura Industries

We've been here at Mandakkibhatti Layout for a while now. It's on Maganahalli Road, 4th Cross in Harpanahalli. Basically, we make puffed rice. People call it murmura here. It's a small setup. We start early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. The machines get loud once they start running. It’s a messy job sometimes with all the dust and grain, but that's just how it goes in this line of work. We mostly deal with local shops and some regulars who come by. There’s not much to say about the building, it's just a functional space. We focus on getting the roasting right so it’s crunchy. If you walk down the 4th cross, you can usually smell the toasted grain. It’s a busy area with other bhattis nearby. My uncle started this and now a few of us keep it running day to day. We don't have a big office or anything, just the production floor and some storage for the sacks. It's hard work, especially in the heat, but it keeps us busy. We try to keep things moving so the stock doesn't sit around too long. People around here know where we are if they need a batch for their shops or stalls. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s ours and we’ve been doing it a long time. Harpanahalli is our home and we're just part of the local scene here.
