We operate out of the Woollen HWPS Co Operative Society building in Konasagara. It’s a different kind of setup compared to the big city shops. Here, we are all about weaving and working with wool. The space belongs to the cooperative, and it’s been around for quite a while. You won’t find any sleek furniture or modern art on the walls here. It’s mostly old looms and bundles of raw wool sitting in the corners. The floors are concrete and the roof is high to keep things cool. We follow the traditional ways of doing things because that’s what we know. It’s a lot of manual work and it takes time to get things right. Most of the people working here live nearby and have been weaving for years. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy website. We just focus on the machines and the yarn. Sometimes the supply of wool is a bit slow, so we have to adjust our schedule. It’s a quiet life in Konasagara, away from the noise of Bangalore. We take pride in the fact that we use our hands for most of the process. It’s a community effort, really. Everyone knows their job and we help each other out when the workload gets heavy. It’s a very practical, straightforward place where the focus is entirely on the craft itself. We keep our tools sharp and our eyes on the threads until the sun goes down.
