Pawar Rice Mill

Down here at Santaji Chauk on Nanduri Road, we’ve been operating Pawar Rice Mill for a good while. Being in Abhona Tal Kalwan means we’re right in the middle of where the action is for local farmers. The mill gets pretty loud when the season is in full swing, but that’s the sound of work being done. We handle the rice that comes in from the nearby fields. It’s not a glamorous job, your clothes get covered in husk and dust by the end of the shift. My family has been around this area for generations, so we know everyone who stops by with their grain. We don't have a website or fancy brochures. People just know the mill is here. Sometimes the machines act up or the power goes out, which is common enough around here, but we get back to it as soon as we can. It’s about being reliable for the people who depend on us. We keep the place simple. There’s a small office where we sit and talk over tea with whoever is visiting. We don't use big words or try to impress anyone. We just process the rice and make sure the bags are filled right. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and moving, but it keeps us busy. That’s just how we do things here in Abhona. It's hard work, but it is what we know how to do best for the community.
