Iris Polymers

Our small workshop is located in Ettumanoor. It’s a place people usually just drive through on the way to other towns, but we’ve made our home here. Iris Polymers is a modest operation. We work with polymer materials, mostly making small parts for other businesses in the region. The building isn't much to look at from the outside, just a plain concrete structure with a heavy door. Inside, it’s a different story. We have our extrusion lines and a few grinders. It’s always a bit noisy and there’s always a fine dust in the air from the plastic beads we use. We don't have a big team, just a few local guys who know how to handle the machinery. My father started this and now I’m looking after it. We don't have fancy mission statements. We just try to make items that don't break. If a customer isn't happy with a batch, we just do it again until it's right. That’s the only way to keep a good name in a small town like Ettumanoor. The rain can be a problem sometimes, leaking through the roof, so we spend a lot of time doing repairs on the structure. It’s a lot of maintenance and heavy lifting. We stay open pretty late most nights to keep up with the work. It’s a simple life, but the work is consistent and we know our neighbors and suppliers well. We just keep our machines running.
