Swasti

Out here on Gouranga Road in Konnagar, things move a little slower. Swasti is just a small outfit. We’ve been in Hooghly for a long time. The building is old, with those thick walls that stay cool even when the sun is beating down outside. We don't have a big team. It’s mostly just a few of us who know each other well. We do a bit of this and a bit of that. People stop by because they know they can get a straight answer here. We don't use those fancy scripts or sales pitches. If we can do something, we say so. If we can't, we tell you who can. The street outside is narrow, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze when the delivery vans come through. I usually sit near the window so I can see who’s coming down the road. There’s a tea stall just down the way that makes the best biscuits, and we spend more time there than we probably should. We don't have a big sign with lights. It’s just 'Swasti' painted on the door. It’s faded now, but everyone knows it’s us. We aren't trying to change the world. We just want to do good work and go home to our families at the end of the day. It’s a quiet life, but it suits us just fine. If you’re ever on Gouranga Road, just look for the green door. We’re usually there until six.
