About Anitha Granites – Building & Construction Material in Kondapuram
Our yard is out in Seetharampuram Village at Sy No 118/A. It’s a wide open space because you need a lot of room when you’re dealing with granite slabs. The ground is almost always wet because we use water to keep the saws cool while they cut through the stone. It’s messy work and your boots are always covered in stone dust and mud. We get the raw blocks in on big trailers and then we have to move them around with the crane. It’s a slow process and you have to be very careful because those stones are heavy and dangerous if they slip. I spend a lot of my day just watching the machines and making sure the cuts are straight. We don't have a fancy office, just a small tin shed where I keep the paperwork and a couple of chairs for visitors. The sun beats down on the yard all day long, so we try to do the heaviest moving in the early morning or late evening. Most of the people who come here are builders or people fixing up their homes in the nearby areas. They walk around the slabs, splashing a bit of water on them to see what the color really looks like under the polish. It’s a tough business and it’s hard on the body, but it’s what we know how to do here in the village. We just keep the saws running and the stone moving.
