Down in Draksharama, specifically in Block-2 at D.No:2-235, is where we keep our office. East Godavari is a beautiful part of the state, and being here in a temple town feels different than being in a big city. The atmosphere is a bit more relaxed, though we still have plenty of work to keep us occupied. Our office is fairly basic, with a tiled floor and some sturdy tables where we do all the calculations. Because it’s East Godavari, the weather can get quite muggy, so we keep the windows open to let in whatever breeze comes through the trees. We handle the chit fund for local people who have been around this area for generations. You won't find any glossy brochures or fancy receptionists here. Usually, you’ll just see one of us hunched over a ledger or talking on a landline phone. The office is easy to find if you are familiar with the local landmarks in Draksharama. We get a lot of people stopping by on their way to or from the village center. It’s a very hands-on job, and we do most of the recording by hand because it feels more reliable to us. We’ve had the same routine for a long time now. We show up, open the shutters, and start going through the monthly collections. It’s a quiet life but it keeps us busy enough throughout the month without needing any extra flash.
