Sri Chaitanya Boys Residential Junior College

Living and working at a residential college like this one in Kompally means the day never really ends. We are tucked away in the Chatrapati Shivaji Campus, and it’s a big space for all the boys. Since it’s a hostel setup, you’ve got students here all the time, not just during class hours. Rangareddy can get a bit noisy, but our corner is usually focused on the books. The morning starts early with the boys headed to the mess for breakfast. You can smell the upma or poha cooking from across the yard. The classrooms are pretty basic, just rows of benches and whiteboards. There is a lot of pressure on these kids, so you’ll see them carrying thick textbooks everywhere they go. In the evenings, they get a bit of time to sit outside or walk around the campus. We have to keep a close eye on the schedules because there is always something happening, whether it’s a test or a study hour. The staff lives close by too, so we are always around if someone gets sick or needs a light bulb changed in their room. It’s a lot of young men in one place, so it gets loud, especially when there’s a cricket match on the TV or someone brings a ball out. We just try to keep things running smooth and make sure they stick to their routines until graduation comes around.
