Shri Lakshmi Narrow Fabrics

Down here on Thammanna Chetty Street, things stay pretty busy at Shri Lakshmi Narrow Fabrics. We have been at number 18/77 for quite some time now, working with all kinds of narrow fabrics and elastics. It’s a bit of a crowded area with lots of other shops and people moving around, but that is just part of the local atmosphere. Our space is filled with rolls of material and the sound of machines running most of the day. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most of the folks working here have been around for years and know exactly how the looms should be set. If someone comes in looking for a specific type of tape or webbing, we just go back into the stacks and see what we have. It’s a hands-on kind of job. We get a lot of dust from the threads, so we are always cleaning up after ourselves. The street outside is narrow, so getting deliveries in and out can be a bit of a puzzle sometimes. We just focus on getting the rolls measured right and sent out to the garment makers who need them. It is honest work, and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is. We show up, do the weaving, and head home. That’s the daily routine here, and it suits us just fine.
