Soft Toys

We are located in Punnathala South, specifically at Senani Bhavan near Cherkulam. It’s the home of Nevin Lopez and that’s where all the work happens. Making soft toys is a bit of a messy business because of all the stuffing and fabric scraps. You can find little bits of fluff on the floor no matter how much you sweep. We do most of the cutting and sewing in the main workroom. It’s a local operation, and we don't have a big factory or anything like that. It’s more of a family-feeling environment. The neighborhood is quiet, mostly residential, so we try to keep our working hours reasonable. Sometimes the sewing machines can be a bit loud if we have three or four going at once. We spend a lot of time picking out fabrics and making sure the eyes and noses are put on securely. It’s hands-on work and your fingers can get a bit sore by the end of the day. We’ve been making these toys in this house for quite a while. People in the area know what we do. It’s nice to see a finished toy that started as just a roll of cloth. We don't have a big marketing plan; we just make the toys and get them ready for whoever needs them. It’s a simple life here in Punnathala, and we enjoy the quiet pace of things most of the time.
