Our place, Global Image, is down in Kottiyam, right near the Jama Masjid. You can usually hear the calls to prayer from the mosque throughout the day, which gives the area a very specific feel. It’s a local community where everyone seems to know everyone else's business. We handle a lot of imaging and photo work here. The shop is situated in a convenient spot for people coming from the post office or the masjid. It’s a simple setup with a counter and our equipment in the back. We don't spend money on fancy decor because that’s not what people come here for. They come because they need something done and they know we are here. The humidity in Kerala can be tough on the gear, so we have to be careful about how we store everything. On rainy days, the front of the shop gets a bit damp, but we keep working through it. We talk to the locals, hear the news about the town, and keep our heads down. It’s a straightforward way to run a business. We aren't trying to be a big global agency despite the name; we are just a small shop in Kottiyam serving the people around us. It’s a decent life and we enjoy the pace of the neighborhood, especially during the festivals when the whole street comes alive with people.
