Gk Engineering Consultancy is up in the Jubina Building in Keralapuram. It’s a small office where we spend a lot of time looking at drawings and calculating things. We deal with various building plans and some mechanical stuff too. The office is usually cluttered with rolls of blueprints and old files. It’s just a few of us working here. Sometimes it gets quiet when everyone is focused on their own project, but we talk a lot when a new problem comes up. We aren't a big firm with hundreds of employees. We prefer it this way because we can actually talk to the people who walk through the door. Keralapuram is a decent area, and being in the Jubina Building makes it easy for clients to find us. We use some software for the designs, but a lot of the initial thinking happens with a pencil and paper. The tea guy comes by twice a day, which is usually when we take our breaks. It’s been our base for a while now. We don't have a fancy lobby or a receptionist, you just walk in and talk to whoever is free. It’s a straightforward way of doing business. We have a few old chairs for visitors and a big wooden table where we spread out the larger maps. The windows don't let in much light, so we keep the overhead lamps on all day. It’s just a quiet place where we get our work done without any big drama. We like the routine here.
