Writer Relocations

We are up on the first floor of Central Plaza at 2/6 Sarat Bose Road. Room 101 is where all the planning happens for Writer Relocations. It’s a busy spot in Kolkata, especially with Lala Lajpat Rai Sarani nearby. The office itself is full of maps and schedules. Since we deal with moving people’s lives from one place to another, there’s always a bit of stress in the air, but we manage. You’ll see stacks of packing tape and samples of bubble wrap sitting in the corners. The elevator in the building is a bit slow, so most of us just take the stairs. It’s good exercise anyway. We don't have a big fancy reception area. When you walk in, you’re usually greeted by the sound of someone on the phone explaining a route or checking on a truck. The desks are covered in lists and coffee mugs. We’ve been at this for a while, and the routine hasn't changed much. We start early, check the daily manifests, and make sure the crews are where they need to be. The view from the window is just the street below, which is always full of traffic and people heading to the market. It’s an honest way to make a living, helping families shift their stuff. We just keep our heads down and try to stay organized among all the cardboard boxes and clipboards. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s just the nature of the business. The clock on the wall has a loud tick that you only notice when it's really quiet.
