Vinod Gupta Classes

Our classes are held in the Bbd Bag area of Kolkata. We are on the first floor, Room 109, at 9 Bbd Bag (East). It’s an old part of the city, right opposite the Dalhousie minibus stand. The sound of the bus conductors shouting is something we hear all day long. We are located right above the Axis Bank. The building is one of those old-fashioned Kolkata structures with a heavy iron gate and a manual lift that doesn't always work. We teach various subjects here. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when a big batch comes in. We have wooden benches and old desks. It’s not fancy at all. We spend a lot of time grading papers and talking to students about their doubts. The area is the financial heart of the city, so everyone is always in a hurry. We have a small pantry where we make tea. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. Most of our students take the bus or the metro to get here. It’s a convenient spot for them, even if it is noisy. We have been in this room for quite a while now. It feels like home to us, even with the dust and the constant buzz of the city outside. We just focus on the lessons and getting through the syllabus on time.
