Our place is on the third floor of Biraj Apartment on Dharmatala Road in Kasba. It’s a typical residential-commercial mix area in Kolkata. We handle international logistics from here, though you might not guess it from the outside of the building. The office is small and functional. We have a lot of maps and charts on the walls to keep track of where everything is going. Kasba is quite a crowded neighborhood, so getting here can take some time if the traffic is bad. We’ve been in this 15 A spot for some time now. It’s just a regular team of people working on computers and talking on phones all day. The elevator in the apartment building is a bit old, but it works. We deal with a lot of freight forwarding and customs papers. It’s mostly about making sure the details are right so nothing gets stuck at the port. There’s no big corporate vibe here, just a group of us trying to manage the flow of goods. We usually have a lot of paper stacks around because of all the regulations we have to follow. It’s a busy environment but we keep it pretty low-key. Most people who visit are just here to drop off documents or discuss a route. We just focus on getting the work done every day. The Biraj Apartment isn't new, so it has some character. We know the neighbors and the local shops where we get our lunch.
