Unit Construction

We are based over at 21B S.S. Pally 2nd Lane, right in Sakuntala Park in Kolkata. It’s one of those parts of the city where the lanes are a bit thin, so getting trucks in for construction materials can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We’ve been running Unit Construction from this address for a good while. The office is basically just a room with some old filing cabinets and a couple of tables where we look at drawings and plans. It’s often humid here, so the ceiling fan is always on high speed, making that clicking noise. We don’t really do anything flashy. Most of our time is spent talking to contractors or making sure we have enough cement and bricks for whatever job is going on. People in the neighborhood know us, and we often see the same faces every morning when we open up. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t have a big website or a bunch of people in fancy clothes. It’s just us. Sometimes the rain in Kolkata slows everything down, and we just sit around the office waiting for it to stop so we can get back to the sites. There is always something that needs fixing or a plan that needs to be double-checked. It’s a lot of practical work and not much else. We just try to get the buildings up and keep things moving along steadily.
