Our office is located in the Karnani Estate building at 209 A.J.C. Bose Road. It’s a very old and famous building in Kolkata, so everyone knows where it is. We are in Flat Number 35 on the first floor. Because it’s an older building, the ceilings are high and the walls are thick, which keeps it a bit cooler than the modern glass towers. Topgrain Commotrade LLP is what’s written on the small nameplate outside the door. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with different rooms and hallways. We’ve got a lot of files from over the years stacked up in the corners. The windows are large but look out onto the busy street, so there’s always a bit of dust and noise coming in. We have a couple of ceiling fans that have been around as long as the building, and they do a good job. It’s a busy spot because A.J.C. Bose Road is a major artery for the city. We deal with various commodities, so there’s always something happening. The kitchen area is where we gather for lunch and talk about things other than work. It’s a very human place with all the quirks of an old estate. We don't have a fancy lobby or a guard at the door; you just come up the stairs and find us. It’s just our little workspace in a big, historic building.
