The India Ball Thread Co. Pvt. Ltd. operates out of Mohta Chambers at 2/C, Jadulal Mullick Road. This is an old part of the city, and the building definitely has some character to it. You can feel the history in the thick walls and the way the stairs have worn down over the decades. Inside, it’s mostly about thread. We have spools and balls of it in all sorts of colors tucked into every available shelf. The air sometimes has a bit of lint floating in it when we are busy moving stock around. It’s a narrow space and we have to be careful not to trip over the boxes that wait by the entrance for pickup. We aren't trying to be anything other than a supplier that’s been around for a long time. The street outside is always crowded with people and carts, so there is a constant background noise of horns and voices. We have a small desk where the ledgers are kept, and we still do a lot of things the old-fashioned way. It isn't a high-tech operation. We just know our threads and we know the people who buy them. Some of our customers have been coming to this same address for years. It gets a bit dark in the back of the warehouse, but we know exactly where everything is located even without the best lights.
