Taj Leather Works

Our shop is at 30/1 Alimuddin Street. If you know the area, you know it is a tight street with a lot of history. Taj Leather Works has been around for a bit, and you can smell the leather the moment you walk through the door. It is a strong, earthy smell that stays on your clothes all day. We have benches where we sit and work on the pieces. It isn't a big factory with machines doing everything. We do a lot of it by hand because that is how it has always been done here. The light isn't great in the back of the shop, so we mostly work near the front where the door stays open to the street. You can hear the motorbikes and people shouting outside all day long. It gets noisy, but you get used to it after a week or two. We have scrap pieces of leather all over the floor and tools scattered on the tables. It looks messy to someone walking in, but we know exactly where every knife and needle is kept. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy displays. People just know we are here on Alimuddin Street if they need something made. We work from morning until the sun goes down, and then we lock up the heavy doors and go home. It is honest work and it keeps us busy enough to not worry about much else.
