Our shop is right there on the ground floor of 32 Ezra Street, specifically at Shop Number 14. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded it gets. There is always someone shouting, a cart being pushed past, or some heavy boxes being unloaded. We’ve been squeezed into this space for quite a long time. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling because there is never enough room for everything we have to keep in stock. Sometimes it takes us a minute to find a specific item tucked away in the back, but we usually know where things are. It’s a bit dusty, and the lighting isn’t always great, but that’s just how Ezra Street is. We spend most of the day talking to people who drop in looking for parts or advice on what they need for their home projects. We don’t have a big corporate team or anything like that. It’s just us here, making sure the orders are correct and the ledger is updated at the end of the day. Some days are faster than others. When it rains, the water splashes into the doorway, and we have to move the stock back a bit. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’re used to the noise and the constant movement of the market outside our door. It keeps us on our toes and the day goes by fast.
