Our office is on Chowbhaga Road in the Topsia area. It’s an interesting part of Kolkata, very industrial and busy in its own way. We’re at number 10. We handle import and export stuff, which basically means we spend our lives looking at shipping schedules and customs papers. The area around us is full of small workshops and other businesses like ours. There’s always the sound of machines or trucks nearby. Inside, the office is just a few rooms with enough light to see what we’re doing. We have stacks of files everywhere because we haven't quite figured out how to go fully digital yet. It feels more real to have the papers in your hand anyway. We have a few guys who handle the logistics and a couple of people for the office work. It’s a tight space, so we end up talking to each other a lot. Sometimes it gets a bit loud when everyone is on the phone at once. We don't really have fancy furniture or anything like that. The chairs are comfortable enough for a long day, and that’s what matters. We usually head out for a break in the afternoon to get some fresh air, though the air in Topsia isn't always that fresh. It’s a hard-working neighborhood and we fit right in. We just focus on getting the day's tasks finished so we can start again tomorrow morning without too much fuss.
