Partha Mazumder is the main point of contact here in our New Alipore office. This part of Kolkata is a bit greener and cleaner than some other spots, which is nice for the walk to work. We are part of the Stewarts and Lloyds group, focusing on the engineering and construction side of things. Our office isn't a massive corporate headquarters; it’s more of a functional space where we get the planning done. We have a lot of files on the shelves from projects all over West Bengal. The desks are usually covered in blueprints or technical manuals. We don’t have a dress code really, just whatever is comfortable for the weather. It gets humid, so the AC works hard. We like being in New Alipore because it's central enough but not too chaotic. Most of our day is spent on the phone or responding to emails about pipe fittings and structural work. It’s not glamorous, but it is necessary work. We have a small tea break in the afternoon which is when most of the real talking happens. We’ve been operating this way for years and see no reason to change it. It’s just about doing the work right and going home. Sometimes we stay late when a big project is finishing up, but usually, we try to keep a normal schedule. The office has a lot of old wooden furniture that we've used for decades.
