Strand Road is a busy place to be. We are located at number 23. If you know this part of Kolkata, you know how crowded it gets with all the trucks and people moving goods near the river. Our office is right in the thick of it. We do trading and export-import stuff, which means a lot of phone calls and paperwork. It’s a lot of asking if the truck arrived or where the invoice went. The building is old, like most things around here, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint. We have desks piled with papers and some old filing cabinets that squeak when you open them. It isn't a place for showing off. We just come in, do the work, and go home. The noise from the street never really stops, so you just get used to the constant honking. We have a small staff and everyone knows what they’re supposed to do. There’s no big hierarchy here, just people working together. We usually get our lunch from the local stalls nearby because the food is good and cheap. Some days the humidity is just terrible, and the small fans we have barely make a dent in the afternoon heat. But this is where the business happens, right by the docks and the old trade routes. We’ve been here for a while and we don't plan on moving. It’s just a normal office in a very busy, noisy city.
