South Point High School

South Point High School is situated at 82/7A, Ballygunge Place. This part of Ballygunge is quite nice with all the old houses and trees around the streets. Our school has been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. It’s a big building, but it feels more like a community than a cold institution. We have many classrooms and the hallways are always full of the sound of kids laughing or running. It gets quite loud during break times, which is to be expected at a school. We don't have a lot of modern, flashy equipment. We mostly stick to the basics that have worked for years. The teachers here have been around forever and they really know the families in the area. It’s not a fancy private school with uniforms that cost a fortune. It’s just a place where local kids come to get an education. We deal with the usual school stuff like broken chalk and leaky taps sometimes. We don't have a big public relations department. If parents want to know something, they just come in and talk to us at the desk. The atmosphere is very down-to-earth. We like being in Ballygunge because it’s a central spot. You can hear the traffic from the main road, but inside the gates, it’s all about the lessons. It’s a practical, busy school that feels like home to a lot of us and we are happy to stay right here.
