Our office is tucked away in North Jogtala, over in the Mahestala part of town. It is a bit of a drive from the main center of Kolkata, but it suits what we do here. This 700 141 area is quite industrial, so there is always a lot of heavy traffic and trucks moving around the narrow streets. We do not have a big reception desk or a shiny lobby. It is mostly just desks, chairs, and a few old cupboards for the files. You might notice a bit of dust on the windows because of all the work happening nearby, but that is just part of being in this neighborhood. We spend most of our hours on the phone or checking over site plans. It is not the most glamorous place to work, but the roof is solid and the tea is usually hot. Sometimes the neighbors pop their heads in to see how things are going. We keep our daily routine pretty simple. There is no special dress code here, just a bunch of people trying to stay on top of a heavy workload. We take the instructions from the main office and try to make sense of them for the local sites. Mahestala gets very busy during the day, so getting in and out of the gate requires some patience. We have been at this address for several years and know the local shops well. It is just a regular office for regular work.
