Even though the name says Simplex Infrastructures Ltd. Kolkata, our actual base for this branch is over in Mumbai. We are specifically located at Bldg No2, Flat No-18 in the Shell Colony area of Sahakarnagar 1. Chembur is a lively place to be, and being in a residential colony makes it feel a bit more like home than a cold office building. We use the flat to coordinate all the local infrastructure work. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze with the computers and the blueprints everywhere. Sometimes the neighbors wonder what all the activity is about when we have site managers coming in and out. Being at pin code 400071 means we are right in the thick of the city's sprawl. The kitchen in the flat usually has a tea kettle going round the clock because that's how we survive the long hours. We aren't interested in being some slick corporate entity; we’re just a small team trying to manage big projects from a modest space. There’s a lot of talk about bridges and roads and buildings within these walls. It’s noisy outside with the city sounds, but we’ve gotten used to it. We just focus on the task at hand and try to make sure everything is recorded properly. It’s a practical way to run things in a city like Mumbai. Our desks are old but they hold the weight of all our plans just fine.
