In Kolkata, we are over in Tollygunje, at I/Id, Ashok Nagar. Simplex Infrastructures Limited has a long history in this city, and this office is part of that. Tollygunje has a specific feel to it, a bit old-school and very busy. Our office is in a building that’s seen a lot of monsoons. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy with project filings to worry about that right now. It’s a place where you hear the sounds of the city all day long. We have a lot of old ledgers and maps of Kolkata stashed in the back room. It’s not a digital-only office by any means. We still like having things on paper. Most of us have been working here for a long time, so we know the local area like the back of our hands. Ashok Nagar is a good base for us. It’s close to the metro, which is a lifesaver for the staff. We don’t do big presentations or have a fancy boardroom. Usually, we just sit around a big wooden table and figure things out. It’s an honest way to work. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out with some local sweets from the shop nearby. It’s just how we do things in Kolkata.
