Our office is tucked away in Birati, right here in the Kolkata 49 area. It’s not a very big place, mostly just a spot to handle the paperwork and keep track of where the workers are scheduled for the week. If you know the Birati area, you know it can get pretty crowded with the traffic and the narrow lanes, but we make it work. We spend most of our time out on the field anyway, looking at the bridge sites or the new building foundations we are currently digging. Simplex Infrastructures Limited has been around the city for a long time, so most people recognize the name even if they don't know exactly what we are doing on a Tuesday afternoon. We have some heavy machinery that moves in and out of the yard, which can be a bit of a headache for the neighbors sometimes, but we try to keep it quick. The staff here consists of local folks who have been in construction for years. We aren't trying to be the most stylish company out there; we just want the work to stay on schedule despite the rain and the usual city chaos. It is a lot of spreadsheets, site visits, and making sure the concrete arrives on time. Not every day goes perfectly, but we manage.
