Siddharth Sponge & Power is based in Kolkata, specifically at the CPWD quarters in Regent Park. Our office is on the 7th floor of Block-C/74, Type-II. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a company, being in the quarters, but it works for us. Getting up to the 7th floor is a bit of a workout if the lift is acting up, which happens sometimes. From up there, we have a decent view of the city. We deal with sponge iron and power, which is heavy industry stuff. The office itself is quite plain. We have some metal cupboards for our files and a few desks that are crowded with papers. Kolkata weather can be really humid, so the fans are always on. We are a small team and we’ve been together for a while now. We don't have any big mission statements or posters on the walls. We just come in, check the production numbers, and handle the logistics. Most of our time is spent talking to suppliers or checking on the transport side of things. It’s not a glamorous job. There is always some problem to solve or some delay at the plant to worry about. We just try to keep things moving as best as we can from this office. It’s a living and it keeps us all busy from Monday to Saturday. Every day feels a bit like a race against the clock. It's just how life is here. We get by.
