Shyam Steel Industries Limited, Salt Lake, Kolkata

We are currently operating out of Aloka Apartment in Kasba. It’s Flat C on N.C. Chowdhury Road. Even though Salt Lake is in our name, this is where we are actually stationed for our daily work. Kolkata 700042 is the area code. It’s a residential building, so it doesn't feel like a big factory or a cold office. We’ve got a small space here. It’s a bit tight when everyone is in at the same time, but we make it work. Kasba is a busy part of town. There’s always something happening outside the window. We do our steel industry work from these desks. It’s a lot of phones ringing and papers moving around all day. We don't have a big reception desk or a shiny sign out front. You just come to the apartment and find Flat C. It feels more like a home office than anything else. We’ve been here for a while. Sometimes the lift doesn't work, so we take the stairs up. It’s just part of the daily routine. We aren't looking to impress anyone with a fancy lobby or expensive furniture. We just want to get our work finished so we can go home. It’s a simple, honest way to run things. We focus on the tasks and keep things moving without any unnecessary drama. The team is small and everyone knows each other well. It's just a normal workplace.
