You can find us at 1/1 Banamali Sarkar Street, which is right in the heart of Kumartuli. Our family has been working here under the name Shilpa Bharati Gorachand Paul & Sons for a long time. This isn’t just a shop to us; it is our home and our craft. The air around here is always thick with the smell of wet clay and straw. Our workshop is usually quite crowded with figures in various stages of being finished. There is mud on the floor and paint splashes on the walls, but that is how a real workshop should look. My sons and I work together, and we don't have time for fancy corporate talk or polished presentations. We just focus on the tradition of what we do. The street outside is very narrow, and sometimes it is a struggle just to get our supplies delivered through the crowds. We know all the neighbors and we all help each other out when things get busy before the big festival seasons. Most of our customers have been coming to the Paul family for generations. We don't need a website or a big sign to tell people who we are. They know the work we do and they know where to find us on Banamali Sarkar Street. It’s a lot of hard work and long days, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
