Shah Window Mart

Shah Window Mart is right on 63-A Raja Nabakrishna Street. If you know the area, you know it’s always a bit crowded with people and traffic. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a long time now. The building has seen better days, but it’s home to us. Inside, you’ll find stacks of aluminum sections and glass panes leaned up against the walls. It isn't a glossy office like you see in the new malls. We have a few desks tucked in the back where we handle the paperwork and take orders from people who walk in off the street. Most of our day is spent measuring things out or talking to contractors who need specific sizes for their projects. It gets pretty loud with the sound of the street outside and the occasional cutting of metal in the workshop area. We usually have a pot of tea going somewhere. The guys here have a rhythm, even when things look a bit messy. We don’t really do much advertising because people just know we’re here. Sometimes a neighbor drops by just to chat for a bit while we’re working on a frame. It’s a practical place. We focus on getting the windows ready and out the door. Sometimes the delivery truck gets stuck in the narrow lane, and we all have to go out and help navigate. It’s just part of the daily routine at our Nabakrishna Street head office.
