Our place, Sett Iron Foundary, is located at 33/1 N.S. Road, inside Marshall House. It’s an old building, and we’ve been here a long time. The office is a bit cramped with files and old samples of ironwork. It’s not a modern glass building; it’s got character and a lot of dust. We deal with foundry work, which means a lot of talk about molds and casting. Even though the office is in Marshall House, our hearts are in the production side of things. N.S. Road is always crowded with people and handcarts, so getting things delivered can be a bit of a challenge. We have a small team that has been together for years. We know how each other works without having to say much. There’s a rhythm to the day, starting with the mail and ending with checking the ledgers. We don't go in for fancy talk or big presentations. If someone needs an iron casting, we tell them what we can do and how long it will take. It’s a very old-school way of doing things, but it’s the only way we know. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the business. It’s a steady life, and we’re happy to be part of the history of this building. The ceiling height is quite high, which helps when the summer heat kicks in. We often share some local snacks during the afternoon break. It’s a busy life here on N.S. Road.
